How to Install a TV Link (Magic Eye)
Before you start it is important that you have good coax cable to hold enough voltage to power the tv link. Aerial cable sometimes does not hold enough voltage please use approved coax cable.
TV link Installation
Step 1. Install a new cable from RF2 on the back of the SKY Digibox and take directly to the second TV. Then attach the TV link to the second TV (into the rear TV Aerial input)and to the cable that has been run from the RF2. (if distribution is required to more than one TV a SKY/Gobal 2 , 4, or 7 way amplifier unit will be required). If a TV outlet plate is used be sure that it is a non isolated type as power is required to pass from the Digibox.
Step 2. Turning on RF power.
1 Press the SERVICES button on your ‘Digibox Remote Control’.
2 Press the NUMBER 4 button on your DRC. (System Set-up)
3 Press the 0 then the 1 then the SELECT buttons (Installer menu)
4 Press NUMBER 4 again. (RF Outlets)
5 Press the DOWN ARROW button once. (second outlet power supply)
6 Then press the SIDE ARROW button once. (turning power ON)
7 Press the DOWN ARROW button once again.(save new settings)
8 Then press the SELECT button.
At this time you should now se the red LED alight, if not check all connections and that you have set-up the SKY Dgibox RF2 for power ON.
Can you change the SKY Digibox channels from the second television?
YES
Congratulations you have successfully installed your tvLINK Happy viewing.
Fault Finding
If you are still having problem try this fault finding process.
Cover the infrared pick up on the front of the SKY Digibox and ensure the channels can not be changed when the remote control is pointed at it. (use a book or a video cassette, as the pick up on the front of the Digibox is extremely sensitive).
Disconnect the tvLINK remote from the second television and take it to your SKY Digibox.
Connect the tvLINK to the female connector, directly onto the back of the Digibox (no cable just the tvLINK) into RFOut2, making sure the red LED is furthermost away from the Digibox.
Point the remote control at the tvLINK eye and try calling up the one of the menus. i.e. Services or, TV guide.
If the TV link does work at this stage then check over the cable from the RF2 and make sure that the cable is good coax (approved) The TV link should work once the cable is good enough and all connections are correctly in place.
If it doesn’t work at this location, uncover the front of the Digibox and enter back into the installer menu by following these instructions.
1 Press the SERVICES button on your ‘Digibox Remote Control’.(DRC)
2 Press the NUMBER 4 button on your DRC. (System Set-up)
3 Press the 0 then the 1 then the SELECT buttons (Installer menu)
4 Press NUMBER 4 again. (RF Outlets)
5 Press the DOWN ARROW button once. (second outlet power supply)
6 Then press the SIDE ARROW button once. (turning power ON)
7 Press the DOWN ARROW button once again.(save new settings)
8 Then press the SELECT button.
9 Press the SELECT button again & re-enable the power to RF2 by repeating the instructions from number 6 to 8 turning the power on this time.
Even though the RFOut2 to shows as being ‘ON’ in the menus of your SKY Digibox, sometimes it will actually be off and following the above will reset it, and thus enabling your tvLINK.
Cover up the front of the Digibox and try the tvLINK, once again.
If the tv link does not light up after trying this a few times it is likely that the TV link or the RF2 connection on the box has become faulty. If you have another TV link and that works from the RF2 then the TV link is faulty and needs to be replaced.
